Busy & Elated

I recently stumbled upon an article titled Stop the Glorification of Being Busy.  Upon reading this article, I began to think how often I use the phrase “I’m too busy” as an excuse or even as self-validation.

When I want to squeeze in an afternoon run, “I’m too busy.”  When I decide to take a spontaneous weekday trip to see Stephen, “I’m too tired from being too busy.”  If my brother calls at a time I can’t chat, I reply, “Sorry, too busy.” Essentially every time I declare how busy I am, I’m missing out on an opportunity to bring a little extra elation to my day.

My father has often told me, "It's such a blessing to be busy," a sentiment I whole heartedly agree with. It's time to make being busy a blessing; a gracious task.  Time to become 'busy' with fulfilling, enriching adventures.  Time to become such an insanely busy, elated person that you couldn't possibly squeeze an extra moment in to 'seize the day'.

Here’s to re-prioritizing our busyness  - xx

Non Dairy Milkshake

This past September, I came to the startling and disturbing realization that I am dairy intolerant.  As a former connoisseur of dairy, mainly cheese, I would indulge more often than one should, always assuming that the debilitating stomach pain was something other than my body cursing me for digesting so. much. cheese.

I have certainty had some dark days, however I proved myself resilient in the fight against my two former vices: cheese and milkshakes.  While I will never find a substitute for cheese, I HAVE discovered a way to create the tastiest (almost) healthiest, chocolate, non-dairy milk shake I’ve ever consumed.

Gather:
-       1 Frozen Banana
-       1 ½ Cups of Almond Milk
-       Handful of Spinach
-       Raw Cacao Powder
-       1 Tablespoon of any nut butter of your choosing
-       Handful of Ice Cubes (personal preference)

In a blender, toss in the sliced frozen banana.

Grab some spinach (I was worried about adding spinach, however you can’t taste or see in the final product)

Pour in almond milk

Add a liberal scooping of raw cacao powder (I usually over-do it) and nut butter.

Blend…..and viola!
