I recently
stumbled upon an article titled Stop the Glorification of Being Busy. Upon reading this article, I began to think
how often I use the phrase “I’m too busy” as an excuse or even as
self-validation.
When I want to
squeeze in an afternoon run, “I’m too busy.”
When I decide to take a spontaneous weekday trip to see Stephen, “I’m
too tired from being too busy.” If my
brother calls at a time I can’t chat, I reply, “Sorry, too busy.” Essentially
every time I declare how busy I am, I’m missing out on an opportunity
to bring a little extra elation to my day.
My father has often told me, "It's such a blessing to be busy," a sentiment I whole
heartedly agree with. It's time to make being busy a blessing; a gracious task. Time to become 'busy' with fulfilling, enriching adventures. Time to become such an insanely busy, elated person that you couldn't possibly squeeze an extra moment in to 'seize the day'.
Here’s
to re-prioritizing our busyness - xx
