Catalyst

On the brink of turning a quarter of a century, I feel an immense desire to eliminate the words complacent, stagnant, dormant, passive, and static from my psyche.  I have determined that something as simple and routine as a birthday is my catalyst; specifically my 25th birthday.  My goal for this metamorphic year of my life is to use turning 25 as my excuse to shamelessly enrich my mind, body, and environment.

This blog is a testament to that sentiment, as I never would have mustered the gusto to create and publish a blog a year ago.  Admittedly I have become a bit lazy, thinking of amazing and cool things to try and accomplish with out having the drive to say. “LET’S DO THIS KATIE.”

I’m striving to use Vive La Katie as a vehicle to document and share my enriching experiences and adventures over the next year of life.  I will reflect in December 2014 and be able to say, “Wow, I really killed it this year.”

I have proudly become a solution/goal-oriented person throughout my tenure as a teacher.  Here are five things I wish to accomplish at 25:

1.    Strictly adhere to my budget and save $15,000 by years’ end
2.    Double my contribution to my 401-k
3.    Move to a brand new location– see ya South Florida
4.    Two words – Gluten. Free.
5.    Become a sustainable consumer – more small businesses, more locally grown products, more environmental awareness, less animal testing, less corporations

I am looking forward to sharing everything from setbacks to recipes.  Here’s to the best years of our lives!

 – xx Katie
